Shedding for the Wedding

The months leading up to your wedding can be stressful. There are so many things to worry about: the invitations, the bridesmaid dresses, the wedding dress, limousines, the cake, your guest list. The list goes on and on. On top of all those unavoidable things, many people want to lose weight for weddings. And it’s not just the bride and groom. After all, many of your guests haven’t seen each other in years. There will be many photos taken, sometimes even videos. So, everyone wants to look their best. Today, many couples have adopted the phrase “Shedding for the Wedding” to describe the weight-loss tactics they use to look good on their wedding day. Some people try fad diets to lose weight quickly in a short period of time. While you might lose weight fast, it usually comes right back as soon as you stop the diet. The best way to lose weight is to do two things: eat healthy and exercise. 

              In terms of eating healthy there are certain things that you can cut out of your diet that will guarantee weight loss. First, instead of using white bread, try switching to whole grain. It’s much better for you and will give you more energy. Next, try staying away from sugary drinks like soda and fruit punch. The sugar content adds excess weight to your body that can easily come off if you switch to something like water instead. You’ll probably lose your taste for these sugary beverages after not drinking them for a month or two, which will help you stay healthier in the long run. Finally, instead of having dessert at the end of your meals that includes ice cream or cookies or brownies or cake; try having something better for your health. A great option is fruit salad. Fruit can give you much more energy and still has the sugar you are craving, but it is natural sugar and easier for your body to break down.

              Regardless of how healthy you try to eat, the best way to try “shedding for the wedding” is to exercise. Join a gym, take pilates or yoga classes, or maybe even go for a run in the morning. You can even exercise from your home with home workout videos. Just getting some exercise in three times a week will help you to not only lose excess weight but to keep it off as well.  An added bonus is that your body will feel better after you start exercising.

              Weddings are stressful. But, with the correct diet and exercise strategy, you can relieve stress and look beautiful in your wedding day attire. You’ll feel great, look great, and have beautiful memories for years to come.
