Bo-Ho Chic Weddings

You may be familiar with the Boho-Chic fashion trend which combines bohemian and hippie influences. This trend was made popular in England by actress Sienna Miller and by model Kate Moss in the mid 2000’s.

Bohemian Chic is the newest wedding trend as couples add more natural elements to the rustic and vintage trend. BoHo-Chic incorporates flowing dresses, vintage accessories and natural-looking hair and makeup.

A Boho-Chic bride will have an outdoor wedding ceremony in a garden setting. She might walk down the aisle in an airy wedding dress with a flower crown instead of the traditional sparkly headpiece and veil. For her bouquet, think greens with flowers in muted, soft tones.

For the groom, he might wear a suit (instead of a traditional tuxedo) in shades of gray, blue or tan with a necktie. He may also opt to go with a vest to add a vintage element and for the boutonniere, greenery with a bit of color.

The natural and vintage look is incorporated into different aspects of the ceremony and reception. To set the tone from the start, consider a non-traditional guest book. Guests can place “Well Wishes” on a piece of driftwood and the seating cards can include a vintage floral print or be hung with clothes pin on a wooden board that has a vintage feel. That same vintage floral print can be added to the table numbers and the menus. For the favors, many brides go with macramé dream catchers or potted plants.

The natural “woodsy” look continues with the centerpieces. Couples go with greens and flowers, lanterns or different vintage glass vases with simple arrangements. Burlap table runners can be added for a more rustic look or if the couple likes a more vintage look, then lace overlays on soft colored tablecloths set the tone.

The wedding cake is always a focal point of any wedding. Boho-Chic couples are going with “naked” cakes (no frosting on the outside) or with cakes with very simple designs.
