This past Thursday evening we hosted our second Bridal Expo for the 2011 wedding season. The Bridal Expos at Majestic Gardens are a great opportunity to meet recommended vendors, sample menu selections and see the latest wedding design trends. We try to feature different stations and linen combinations at each expo so that couples who are having their weddings here have an opportunity to see different displays each time.
At this expo our featured colors were lilac and plum and the colors were incorporated in the glass-topped specialty cocktail tables, the table linens, our ceiling draping, and the personalized candy buffet.
If you watch the various wedding programs on the WE channel, you know that draping is the latest design trend and at the Expo our Design and Décor division presented event draping over the dance floor in ivory organza with violet satin band accents.
The draping is a great way to incorporate your wedding colors into the décor either by selecting colored draping or by changing the color of the satin bands. In addition to liliac and plum, guest tables were set in different linens in pink, apple green, fuchsia, black, navy and yellow with turquoise accents.
Clams, Clams, Clams
Our featured cocktail hour stations were the Clams, Clams, Clams and the Smashed Mac-N-Cheese Bar. The Smashed Potato Bar has been one of the most popular stations over the past few years so we thought adding Mac-N-Cheese to the potato bar would be a great way to update the station. Our chef coupled garlic mashed potatoes with Gorgonzola and Pancetta Spiral Mac-N-Cheese and traditional Cheddar and American Mac-N-Cheese. Guests had a choice of Beef Bourguignon, Chili, Broccoli Florets, Diced Tomatoes, Scallions and Shredded Cheddar Cheese as their toppings for their potatoes and mac-n-cheese. For the clam lover, we featured our Clams, Clams, Clams station which included Clams on the Half Shell, Clams Rockefeller and Clams Casino.
For dessert, guests were treated to our Donut Hole Flambé which paired flambéed glazed donut holes with vanilla ice cream. The donut holes were topped with chocolate sauce, warm strawberries, colored sprinkles and coconut. This station is a real crowd pleaser each and every time!
In addition to the different featured stations, the Glass-Topped Cocktail Specialty Tables were decorated in lilac and plum. Our signature drinks for the evening were the Purple Rose Martini and the Mixed Berry Mojito. Samples of the cocktails were available for tasting and the Mixed Berry Mojito was the favorite. Mojitos are increasing in popularity and the Mixed Berry Mojito is a blend of blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, mint and flavored rum.
The personalized candy buffet which was displayed in the lobby as a goodnight treat for guests featured purple, white and silver candies with personalized water bottles in plum with lavender accents.
The cake that was on display was a four tier stacked square cake with different designs on each tier. The cake featured a plum satin ribbon accent on each tier, red roses and a monogram cake topper. Honeysuckle, a reddish-pink color similar to fuchsia or watermelon, is the color of the year for 2011 and one of the guest tables featured black, honeysuckle and pink linens. This table featured the crystal chandelier trees with honeysuckle roses.
In keeping with the black and white trend, the guest table pictured below featured a black pintuck floor length cloth, ivory chair covers and black lamour sashes with rhinestone sash buckles. The featured centerpiece for this table was the silver candelabra with the red roses in the center and draped crystal.
Many, many brides love pink and while the color trends favor honeysuckle, turquoise and plum, pink remains one of the most popular wedding colors every year. The sheer soft pink organza swirl linen and chair sashes received many compliments.
Another beautiful guest table featured apple green and white damask floor length linens with a stunning calla lily centerpiece.
