This past Tuesday we hosted our first Bridal Expo for 2011 and while it was wet, damp and windy, everyone was thankful that we had a temporary break from the snow. The Bridal Expos at Majestic Gardens are a great opportunity to meet reccomended vendors, sample menu selectiosn and see the latest wedding design trends. At this expo, couples were able to see Castle Entertainment and After Hours DJ perform and meet with our third reccomened DJ company, In the Mix who will be performing at the March Expo. Also at the expo were limosine companies, hotels, photographers florists, videographers, tuxedos, officiants and representatives of Majestic Gardens’ event design division. Our Design and Décor division presented one of the newest trends, event draping over the dance floor. The elegant ivory organza draping had champagne satin band accents. The draping is a great way to incorporate your wedding colors into the décor either by selecting colored draping or by changing the color of the satin bands. Pantone named honeysuckle as the color of the year for 2011. Honeysuckle is a reddish-pink color similar to fuchsia or watermelon and it is noted as being a very cheerful and uplifting color. The honeysuckle color was mixed with black linens and on the crystal chandelier tree. In addition to honeysuckle, design trends indicate that turquoise will continue to be popular for 2011, as well as all shades of purple from lavender to plum. The other big trend for 2011 and 2012 is the return of the black and white wedding. Couples using an accent color such as honeysuckle, turquoise or red as the focal point with their black and white décor. At the expo we featured brown, pink and honeysuckle as the accent colors. The Glass-Topped Cocktail Specialty Tables set up for the expo were decorated in pink and brown and featured the Blushing Bride Martini and the White Chocolate Mocha-Tini. Samples of the martinis were available and the White Chocolate Mocha-Tini was a big hit. The cocktail features espresso vodka, white chocolate Godiva liquor and crème de cacao. In addition to the cocktail displays, the Sweet Dreams Pastry Buffet which was displayed in the lobby as a goodnight treat for guests featured pastries decorated in chocolate, pink and honeysuckle. The cake that was on display was a four tier off-set stacked square cake with chocolate dot and scroll accents. The cake featured a pink satin ribbon bow and monogram cake topper and crystal butterfly accents. In addition to pink and brown, guest tables were set in different linens in shades of purple, green, black and champagne. Martha in our Design and Décor division and our house florists had beautiful centerpieces on display to give our attendees ideas for their own reception. If you love candles, there were two candelabras on display. If you are a trendsetter and want something different, you might elect to go with the chandelier trees or the crystal and flower display. For the traditional bride, the beautiful floral centerpieces created by James Cress Florist and Roots may be the choice for you. Our next Bridal Expo will be in March so keep checking back on our events page for more information.
